If you can hardly force yourself to go to the gym, think about changing the activity. Dr. Steve Faulkner and his research team claim that a hot bath can be just as useful as your daily workout.
Together with Faulkner’s team, they measured how the blood sugar level changes and how many calories are burned during the water procedures.
The study involved 14 people, who took a hot bath (water temperature of 40°C) and did the cycling for an hour.
The researchers compared energy expenditure during both activities.
The cycling, of course, burned more calories. However, taking a hot bath was comparable to the load of a 30-minute walk at a quick pace.
Faulkner also added that the procedure strengthens the immune system and is especially useful in spring for colds prevention.
Please note that water should not be too hot, and the duration of the procedure should not exceed 15 minutes.
